Need help please...

I am a web designer, and know a little about inside a computer, hardware and software. I had a computer built for me by a person who ended up dying very young a year later.

My video card is going, the fan on it is making a sound and it sounds like it is getting slower, it needs to be re-placed. I do not have a lot of money so want to do it myself, I was going to get the current card that is already in it so I do not have to mess with software. Let me know what you think, should I up grade my card if I find one for the same money, or is it to hard to install, etc. I have a PC with windows XP.

This is my current card here. http://www.compuvest.com/Search.jsp...as=13&zmac=65&zmap=331000193-01&zmae=shopping

I found this one for the same price should I upgrade or is it even doing so,, http://cgi.ebay.com/GeForce-6200-SE...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

Do you have any ideas of you own,

Thanks ronnie lees.

the specific kind of video card your computer can take is called the AGP 4X/8X format. its the type of slot on your motherboard that sends and takes information from the video card.

on here, we always suggest using newegg.com if you can, and since you are using an American website ill assume your from the states.

this one is about $70 total, and would serve your purposes very well.

this one is less powerful then the first, but still better then the one you had. it also conforms to the budget a bit better, at about $55 shipped

I will buy one of those two, maybe the 70.00 one, is it easy to install? pop out the old one, pop in the new one, and load and install the disk? Thanks ronnie lees.

I have windows xp, and a brand new mother board in the computer.

Yea, that's it. It's probably better to get the latest drivers from the support website first, then pop in the card. Then install drivers. You're updated.
