What skt motherboard are you looking for?

Well Idearly since you want agp you would want a board with the nforce3 ultra chipset.

The best nforce3 ultra motherboard out there is
MSI NEO2-Platinum nVidia Socket 939 $189 cad
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1174911&CatId=1746
At tigerdirect it seems a bit expensive. You might want to look for places around you and you might be able to find it for alot closer to the $140 you want to spend. The only reason I used that link is am american and it the only place I know of that ships to canada.

Other options are

DFI LanParty UT nF3 Ultra this proberly going to be just as expensive as the MSI one.

GIGABYTE GA-K8NS Ultra-939 this should be alot cheaper. I could get this board for only $100 USA in the states.

I would look around to see how cheap you could get the MSI board or the DFI one because that the best 2 agp board money can buy in my opioun for skt 939.

also when i go and buy my cpu, do i tell them i want the venice core and not the clawhammer or winchester?

Yes make sure you know what you getting. Tell them you want it with venice core and make sure that what you getting.

Does it say somewhere on the box what core it is? I only recently learned about the differences in CPU cores, and I never noticed any marking on the packaging that said what core the CPU is.

Am looking at the box my cpu came in and no where does it say the core. I cant even find a OPN name on it which would allow you to know the core.

Once you take the cpu out of the box if it a amd cpu it will have the OPN written on it. You can easily look up the OPN on google and find out what core it is.

I cant think of anyway to know with out taking the cpu out of the box and looking at the OPN number written on the cpu.

For intel I dont think the opn even written on the cpu which makes it even harder to find. You would have to acturally install the cpu and use a program like cpu-z to find it out.

edit: just noticed something on amd boxes there a window on it that allow you to see the front of the cpu. You can read the OPN off that.

Yep ... you can also verify to make sure you're not getting ripped off or anything ... it should say ADA3200DAA4BP on the chip

The core is determined by the "BP" on the chip

Once you take the cpu out of the box if it a amd cpu it will have the OPN written on it
AMD packaging is such that u can read the OPN before buying it

For intel I dont think the opn even written on the cpu which makes it even harder to find
Its not on CPU but they have their obscure codes on the boxes

You would have to acturally install the cpu and use a program like cpu-z to find it out.
CPUz doesnt tell you the OPN
