Hello everyone, I'm in the process of buying some components to set myself up with a fairly capable system. It is to be used for casual entertainment like games, movies, light photoshop editing and office work.
My budget stretches around $AUD 500-700 with the intention of getting me a case, psu, cpu, mobo, ram, gfx, hdd and kboard+mouse. I've already got a monitor, dvd-rom and a speaker set from an old system to dismantle and add onto this purchase.
To be honest, I've built my fare share of systems and I'm not looking for miracles with this budget. It is probably more a case of emergency as my old system is about to crash and causes headaches on a regular basis. I do need help though, as I'm not experienced with budget purchases and I imagine it being more complex to assemble an optimal system this way. Coupled with not being present on the computer market for some time, I feel like I'm not exactly on top of things anymore...
What I am looking for in terms of performance is something to handles games like Heroes of Newerth and Quake Live on highest settings(I guess in general, these are the factors that will determine the systems capabilities). The challenge I think lies in finding good value hardware that will not hamper the quality for the sake of saving some cash.
