the choices

device manager
hardware profiles
system config utilty
component services

and the other ?

Which of these should be disabled before starting an operating system upgrade?

choices

network clients
system tray
print spooler
antivirus programs

need help quick for some reason these 2 have me stumped

1 = you can use device manager &
2 = none, i upgrade machines from 2000 to xp all the time
i do not switch off network,AV or spooler

i don't know if you're going to upgrade to vista from XP probably you might turn off all of them ive never tried upgrading really i start fresh

applying for a job at circuit city huh? i dont think you should be applying for the job if you dont know those answers.

for those who dont know, these are the questions they ask on generic application forms for PC repair at places like circuit city. literally, these are the exact questions. haha, maybe you should consider another job...

its not that i dont know i already did the app i just wanted to see if they were correct, i learned all this shit like 4 yrs ago so refreshing my memory is always a good thing

Man if thats the kind of questions they are asking people i'm really really glad i know how to work on my own pc and my family members becuase those places are total rip offs

another thing i found funny is the reason i applied is cuz some of the people they have working there are complete idiots, i went with my buddy to take his laptop in after i told him it was the hdd but he still had warranty on it well first the guy tried telling him the hdd was good although it didnt show up in bios, windows disc didnt see it, and tried it in another laptop.. by the way the guy was wrong they sent it to hp it was the hdd

yeah the questions they ask are pretty vague, but when you fix PCs for a company, not for yourself, there are all kinds of protocols that they want you to follow, you cant just do things the way you want to. they want to make sure that you know how to do things "by the books"

the answer to the second question btw is "antivirus". some antivirus progs haev registry protectors, and if even one DWORD or value in the registry gets messed up during an OS install, it can corrupt the entire update

see that one i guessed right, because like patrick said ive never had to do ne thing like that when upgrading or ne thing, but like i said i think its funny that some people they hire are idiots.

Just out of curiosity... why did you need these answers so quickly if you already finished the app and just wanted to see if you got them right? Doesn't really need a rushed answer if you already did it...

well i wasnt at home so i only had so lil computer time i was hoping that some1 woulda posted sooner so i knew i got it right or not

also ive always heard that a+ certification isnt that important but ive been turned down from alot of jobs because im not a+ certified ne else have that prob, and now im going to school for computer network administrations and computer information systems id like some opinions on what im goin to school for if u guys think that there are gunna be good jobs available in those fields

Well the good thing about network administration is companies will always need an on-site network admin... so where there's a company that uses a network (what company doesnt?) there will always be opportunity for employment.
