Need help Reformatting Hard Drive...

I have a Toshiba 5105 S501 1.7GHz P4 (40GB 512MB DVD/CDRW) laptop that I am wanting to clean up. I am considering a reformat of the c: drive as my drive is at 80% capacity. I have never done this and so I am looking for help.

Any suggestions? OR alternatives?

To do that you have to reinstall your operating system, which I assume you know.

Insert your XP disk into your CD drive, restart the computer, and when it says "press any key to boot from CD" do so.

Follow the instructions to install it, and it will format it for you. After the installation finishes, you will have nothing at all on your computer except XP.
