Need Help transferring Digital Images to DVD's

Hey all. I am technology idiot when it comes to computers but here is what I am trying to accomplish. I have just started into digital photography and my wife and I just returned from Hawaii with about 4GB of high quality digital pictures (10.1 Mega Pixel Camera). I would like to store them on a DVD but have NO CLUE how to do it. My computer does have a DVD Writer. I have RecordNow Max as a program that claims to be able to write DVD's as well as CD's but when I put a blank DVD into it when it asks me too, the computer doesn't read it.

Can you guys help me out here?

The recording programs still says you have no blank media in the drive?
Anyway, you just have to burn the images as a data disc.
