Need Help Upgrading Video Card.

Hello,

I have recently acquired a Dell Dimension 2400 Desktop Computer. I have put World Of Warcraft on it and the integrated video will play it, but it is choppy. I was wanting to get some recommendations on a video card to upgrade. I think this computer has pci slots. Some other specs on it are 2.4 ghz Intel Celeron and 1 GB of Memory.

I did recently talk with Dell and they said that I have pci - e slots, but when reading the literature online that came with my computer when it was shipped, it says I have pci slots.

Anyways, any help in this matter will not go unappreciated.

Thank You

This is a tough one, If you are on a tight budget you could probably get pick up a PCI FX5200 graphics card for pennys. Then it should be plug and play. (may require disabling the onboard VGA in the BIOS but thats a 30 second job).

That should give your PC a boost graphically and performace wise.

The second option is to put some more RAM in your PC, at the minute if that PC is stock it will only have one 512mb DDR DIMM installed. That type of motherboard you have can only hold 1GB of RAM. Buying a second 512mb DIMM will also give you a good performance increase. Easy to do, just a case of plug and play. Them sticks are pennys on ebay too.

Or you could do both, buy a PCI graphics card and add more RAM. This should be a good boost and inprove your game play.

Other wise if you want anything better your gonna have to put your hand in your pocket.

Say if you wanted a PC that could cope with the latest game titles out there you will pretty much need a new rebuild (mobo, CPU, RAM, PSU, etc...) Which would be good but not everyone is made out of money. Any more questions just post below. Hope this helps.
