Need help urgently!!!

Hello, i hava problem which is, when i start my laptop running windows xp. i got to the point after i put in my password and then all i get out of my desktop is my background imagne. i cant see my icons nor i can get any access to my data, files nor anything.. i need help. i dont want to reformat nor reinstall windowsxp which will lead to deleted all my data, this would drive me crazy.

any help will be good

i tried in safe mode. tried in safe mode command. all the options on F8 when loading windows.
even tried to use a winxp cd as startup

bu is there a possible way u i can gain access to the restore point from the startup so i reverse the time to a couple of days when it was working??
