Need Help W/ my Hp zv5000 Water damage ?

Left my notebook open on my desk at work, the A/C leaked water on the F'in thing, I took it apart and dried it off the best I could... let it sit for about 3 days. Now the LCD screen is dark, like if there is a back light that is off or something, hope I explained it well enough, is there something that I can do to salvage my laptop ? HP wants $800 to fix it , and I paid $1250 2 years ago for it.... Thanks in Advance, Milo
 
Can you still see images on the screen if so then you can probably replace the screen wit a new one. One of my friends had something this happen and he just bought a new screen from ebay pretty cheap to if I remember correctly.

Yes you can still see the images on the screen, I will try buying a new screen and see what happens,

Try to connect an external screen first, just to make sure that there are no other things than the screen which are not working properly anymore.
