ok, when i was in iraq my buddy made me a DVD from a ton of pictures and video clips that my platoon had taken while we were there. I want to get those pics and videos off of the DVD and was wondering how to do it. Please help

Thanks,
The noob

Just stick into your DVD drive, open it up and drag out the pictures/clips you want onto your desktop or desired location.

i already tried that, i cant get to the individual picture and video files. they are all put into slide shows. so its just plays through like a movie.

vob files are DVD player format files. you can rip the dvd to divx, or mpeg if you wanted to, or just make an ISO of the dvd with nero and mount it via alcohal 120 on your computer (or daemon tools).

If you can find a copy of dvdshrink it is a great tool to have. It got taken down because it was being used for piracy too much, I still have a copy of it somewhere and I think a few mirrors are still up for download on the net. You can rip the files right from the dvd to your HD then convert them to whatever.

Also, a good media player like VLC will play .vob files natively so you could just copy the files over and use it to play it.

Okay, i got it ripped to my HD as an iso file. Now how do i convert it to the individual picture files that were originally put on it?

Okay I got the DrDivx and its sayin that the file is not decodeable. (Unknown file format). What can I do to change that?

Man im a noobie.

I got that, but now its sayin that it is not decodeable...something like format not supported.....this thing is kickin my butt and i really want those pics.

ah, weren't those photos in a different format other than .vob? It is in an unsupported format. I don't know much about slide show pics so I may not be able to help you.

The video though is in .vob format and those apps listed should be able to convert the video for you.
