Need help with a new good comp

I'm trying to figure out a decent build for a gaming computer for approx. $2,000 to around $2,500.
I'm trying to figure out what would be the best gear possible for that money without using too much hardware that programs won't be able to use fully for the next few years.
Unfortunately while I know some comp. terms, I've only built one PC before and that was 2 years ago.
This machines power would be focused on gaming (i.e. Crysis + World of Warcraft, both of which I'd like to be able to play at the highest quality levels without lag).
What kind of video card would i need for this?
Any suggestions for RAM sticks and CPU's?
I'll try to find some gear on newegg and post them. Until then any help would be awesome!!

You're going to need a very high end video card if you want to run Crysis up that high. I'd suggest a 4000 series ATI card or what ever Nvidia's flagship card is right now. You'll probably want to stay away from the x2 series though. I have a 3870 X2 and it seems to be a bit problematic. It's not exactly the most stable thing in the world. Also, it doesn't really outperform the single gpu video cards either.

You don't need the top of the line card for crysis, I have a 9800gtx plus. It works fine on all high with 2x AA @1280x1024. You can ge the card for under $200 now I think.

definitely get a quad core processor(preferably inel)
ddr3 memory
and a high end but not crazy graphics card(ati or nvidia)
do you need moniter, mouse, and keyboard

if you plan on having a monitor bigger than 22" I would get a top of the line $400+ card.... or else you wont be able to get the resolution.

Is there really that much performance difference between DDR2 and DDR3 memory. Last time i checked there wasn't, if you're looking to cut costs that may be the place to do it.
