Need help with a personal project

Hey so im new here and working on a project for a family mines close with and would like some help.
My friends grandma is in Ireland and unfortunatly is dying. One of her wishes is to see my friend play her violin before she dies. Heres the problem. My friend cant go to Ireland and the grandma cant come to America. But my friends dad is going, and is bringing a laptop with him.
My mom suggested putting a video on youtube, but i thought that setting up a video chat would be a better idea.
Are there any possible problems i could run into with this idea, and what programs do you think would be best for this. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Well there are a few options here. If both of the parties have a Gmail account you might try: http://mail.google.com/videochat

Another good option would be Skype: http://www.skype.com/allfeatures/videocall/

Either way try setting up both accounts and testing it out see which you prefer or which works better.
