need help with emulator

ok i got an emulator so i could play some ROMs i had and the download went good and everything but then after i downloaded i clicked on it and it said:
open with:
then it had a list of a bunch of stuff. I think it is a zip file so i need to un-zip it. is it possible to not have winzip? the person who had this computer before me deleted all kinds of stuff because they didn't know what they were doing and for a while i didn't even have the cursor. If winzip is gone is it possible to download it off the net?

check the file you download, right click it, and go to properties. See what the file type says, if it says .zp you will need winzip. You can download it for free. www.winzip.com

oh sorry I didn't know it was illegal I'll just delete the post then. can you explain why a program that would do that would be illegal?

HA! go to pcmech.com they have way worse rules. I got banned because I posted a few things that were wrong and i even said "I may be wrong but.." and whenever a member with 1000+ posts would say something that was wrong they'd just say "oh sorry I didnt read your whole post just the beginning.." and no one would give a crap. They could have said sliding on carpet with socks on before building a computer was a good idea and no one would care. hmm it would seem that I am still angry about what happened........
 
um... emulators that play gamecube/ps2 games on pc aren't illeagle...
it is leagle as long as u own the game

i have looked up some of these rules very theroughly(spelling) and have found every loophole i could :)
 
When you get down to it, emulators aren't illegal. ROMs are only illegal when you keep them over 24 hours OR if you own the game. However, I could see how people could get into trouble still because if you download a game, it's not always the original copy you had(revisions and such, espcailly for cartidge based games)

However, I'm sure it's best to just avoid this topic all together seeing as it's rather iffy...
 
no im talking about downloading something that allows me to put the cd in my cd drive and play it as if my pc was actually a gamecube or ps2
 
To use these emulators you have to download the bios ... which is illegal if you own the game or not. There is bleem which is legal for ps1.

However, there have been emulators that used copyrighted BIOS code internally; those have generally found to have been illegal when distributed with that BIOS.

so what i was talking about was legal right? the second thing about the emulator to play ps2 and gc games on pc. hmm so ROMs are illegal now a few months ago it was "in the gray area" or zone or whatever

You would still have to download the bios...which is illegal. :)

aww They should do something like make it so you can buy something to plug your ps2/gc into the pc and play the games on the pc that way you have to buy their system and the game. I just wanted all my games to be in one box.

i guess there is worse, i just hate the fact that if i post somthing pointless and funny, i have to be scared of losing my mebership here at computerforum (not that i really care, i will just send multiple emails to the admins that are very very nasty, which, i have done at other forums :P, and then i will go to some other forum :p lol)

i dont know, it is weird :confused:

i would gauruntee that if some person with like 25 posts put up that message i put up, and the admins read it, they would be banned. as a matter of fact, for this very post i am writing right now, i will probabally be banned :D
