Need help with flashing

I have a Gigabyte K8ns-pro board for my socket 754 amd. I need help flashing bios. I tried a self installer, but it didnt work. Can someone help?
 
Can you explain why the self installer wouldn't work? I mean you probably can but shouldn't flash it much any other way because of how easy it is to destory a motherboard if a flash isn't done/completed correctly.
 
I tried to update bios and it didnt work. When the comp. booted it still said f12 for bios type which is what it came with.
