Do you need DDR3 RAM? Because at this point it's probably not worth the extra money both for the motherboard and the RAM.

Personally, I don't think it worth to go for DDR3 RAM for intel C2Q.
And I don't suggest you invest on intel C2Q. For mid-range quad core machine, AMD Phenom II x4 would be a better choice as LGA775 will become obsolete soon.
