Need help with Gaming!!!

I recently got a new GPU for my gaming rig. I am barely out performing my old crappy gpu. I am constantly having lag spikes that are very annoying in games. I will be running smooth (40-60 fps) then dropping to very choppy (5-20 fps) even while the game does not get more graphical intensive. need help!
I have a fx-6100 @ 3.3
asus HD 7850-drivers up to date-(I had a NVIDIA GeForce GT 520)
8gb ram @1600
650W PSU
N68-VS3 FX MOBO

I have researched this same build online and no one else seems to be having this problem. Any info would be nice!

what is the power supply? otherwise it may be your processor, the original FX cpus werent too good. What games exactly are you getting these issues in?

That should be fine. Not sure how well that mobo will, but i'd check your temps and if need be, buy a cooler, and throw a decent overclock on the cpu to see if that helps.

What games are you playing?

Monitor your temps and see if they spike when the PC lags, everything in that pc should play games perfectly with non lag. OCing will cause more harm then good with that board.

Temps run at 45-52 C while playing. no major spikes. I have noticed while monitoring that my power % gor my gpu is always at 0%. could that have anything to do with it?

What does this mean?

Have you installed the FX6100 patch? http://www.techpowerup.com/158534/new-windows-7-bulldozer-patches-available.html

What games do you play?

What resolution do you play at?

Do you have the latest Direct X?

Is windows updated?

Have you defraged your HDD lately?

Do you have the latest game patches?

Do you have the latest motherboard BIOS?

If not update all those.

All of these are great suggestions. I have a feeling that you haven't uninstalled your NVIDIA driver.
Go to installed programs (Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features) and look for anything NVIDIA.
You should still update DirectX, defrag your HDD (I prefer Auslogics Defrag, it's free and very good) and check for Windows updates.

Edit: How do you connect your monitor? Your motherboard has integrated graphics, so you could be running of that somehow.

I play games at 1080 p, I am using the output from my video card. (HDMI) I play Defiance, Dayz, Skyrim, League of Legends. DirectX11, I defragged my hdd the other day. BUT it wont let me uninstall my old nVidia programs. I have tried many times, but it wont even give me the option to do so.

you whipped it?

If you reinstalled the OS fresh and you are still having the same issues then it is probably a hardware issue. Can you post a link to the exact model of your PSU?

EDIT: Is this it?

Do you get the same results in every game? Have you tried benchmarks? Take a look at the graphs in MSI Afterburner and make sure that the card is moving out of the 2D clocks when you are gaming.

It is possible it's just a bad PSU. If you are still in the warranty period, RMA it. And just because your computer is being bad does mean you need to whip it :P
