Need help with getting wireless to work

Hey, so I've recently got a new hard drive for my laptop after my old hard drive fried, and I have recently installed Vista on it (lost my XP disc ), but I am having trouble. I am currently at my school campus (only place I can use internet), and I cannot connect to the wireless network here to use Windows Update to reinstall my drivers. I don't have a driver disc at all, I was never given one in the package. The laptop is a Gateway MT6728, and I've downloaded the only wireless adapter driver on Gateway's site that says is compatible with my model, but nothing is working.

The device driver doesn't even list the network adapter as being installed, only my modem. Does anyone have any ideas? I am pulling my hair out trying to get this to work.

I was just on the gateway website and there is no wireless driver for vista for that model. If you can determine which item in your device manager is the wireless adapter then you can just right click on that device and click on the details tab and give me the 4 digit vendor and device id's so we can tell you where to go to get the driver for it. However you would have to download it from another machine and transfer it with a usb flash drive. So let me know what the ID numbers are.
