Need Help with Grapbic Card

hello all,

today, i have decided to install my really old game *DIABLO 2*
however, there is no mod to make it widescreen or anything, i do not want to play it stretched on a 1440x900 resolution.

i have an ati x800xl, i was wandering how you can set up the graphic options so that whenever u play a game that is not wide screen, it leaves the pixels that are not used blank, and the game play is not stretched.

As far as i know, With d2 you can only make it 800X600. I don't think you can play that in ws or leave blank pixels.
 
Yea, i think thats the max resolution, I have tried playing on my widescreen too, and it looks like poop.
 
erm..lol sry i dont think i asked the question properly, i meant like, can you set the display on ati catalyst or something so that when you play the game, the game will run on 1024x768 and the unused pixels around the 1024x768 diablo game will be black and unused...i dont want it to play stretched out..

EDIT: i believe on a nvidia card, there is a tab where u select "fixed aspect ratio" and there's bar lines around the game, i believe ati should be able 2


and to elitehacker, the only reason i m playing this is because my friends want me to play it, lol, i personally feel it is a pain in the a$$

Is there an option for windowed mode? that is what i do when i get games that dont have a 1440X900 mode (i have a 19in LCD). If not, then i usually either go into the .config file and muck around with it or dont play.
 
i have the same exact card, i dont think you would be able to fix it..man i feel like its outdated but its only a year old hehe
