Need Help with HD...

when i turn on my computer all it shows is:

Windos could not start because of an error in the software.
Please report this problem as :
Load needed for DLLs for kernel.
Please contact your support person to report this problem.

when the computer turns on i tired presing F10 repetetly to put me in the reboot options and i press to reboot from my windows xp professional cd but it just goes straight to the screan that says load needed for kernel. i bought a second 80 gb hard drive but when i plug that one into it tells me to check cables .... i bought 3 new cables and its stil not working ... any help would be appriciated

i failry know my way around computers so i messed around with it bought new hard drive ... called gateway and they said its gonna be 129.99 just to talk to them .. so i havent

have you tried f8? i think that is for boot options

I tried f8 del tab and nothing...

Btw that up there is in my friends own words I didnt add anything to it..

All i know is that he has a HD and when he turns comp on it sais something about check cable or w.e....
I could go into bios but....theres really nothing i can do there exept switch boot order...

oh Also hen I go to f8 and try to press safe mode it does the same thing.

Btw hes returning it tomorrow and getting a new HD and a new vdeo card i guess he bought pci-e when he had agp lol...i made that mistake myself once lol....
