Need help with LIF socket for CPU!!

Hi, I have a dell dimension e520 and I'm trying to install a new CPU - the Intel Pentium Dual Core E6300 2.8GHz Socket 775 2MB Cache Retail Box Processor. Here is a photo of the inside of my computer - http://twitpic.com/102a8f

Firstly, if someone could just confirm that the CPU is the small black square thing with the gold tab in the middle of the photo lol (yes I'm a n00b).

I've done some research and I think that my motherboard has a LIF socket, which is means it's harder to remove and install a new CPU, definitely need help on that one. Also it seems as though my new CPU is bigger than the current one, is this a problem? :s

I really need some help on what to do here, I'd like to install it myself instead of taking it to a computer repair shop, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

no, that thing is not your processor.

I'm having a hard time getting my bearings, but I believe your processor is under that big black box at the top middle of your picture. Under that, you should find a bunch of metal fins, and under that will be your processor. Your processor will be silverish and covered in white stuff, but it will be about the same size as the small black square.

Judging by what I see, the processor you bought may not fit in the motherboard (motherboard is the base board which is green). Also there is no such thing as a LIF socket from my experience, and if there is, your new processor will not fit. Also the cure 2 duo e6300 is not 2.8 ghz, from my understanding.

EDIT: I just did a quick google and learned that LIF stands for low insertion force. There is also ZIF, which is zero insertion force. There are several actual socket shapes (you will need to have the exact right one) which are all ZIF or LIF.
