I have (or had....hopefully its still "have") vista premium, and I decided to install linux. So I made a new partition, and sucessfully installed Ubuntu 7.04, but now when I boot up my computer, and enter GRUB, vista isnt shown as an option. I found a site that helps (http://www.yoshi.us/forums/showthread.php?p=212848) but what he said to do isnt working (I dont even know what he means by "get to a console")

Can someone PLEASE help.

im assumning you just wanted the end, but i figured i might as well give you the whole thing lol.

Try adding the following to your menu.lst file, after the memtest entry. Take care to make the rootnoverify (hd0,0) line point to the partition that holds Vista (hint: your Ubuntu is on (hd0,4):

title Windows Vista
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

^^ ive tried this with every possible config i could think of (hd0,0 then i tried hd0,1) and i got all the way up to hd5,5 with no sucess, but maybe i did someting wrong I'll try it again)

*edit* how do i find out which partition vista is on?

The same error, i dotn remember, let me go try.

I should also note, that it wasnt the exact code that you gave me, it was a little different.

this is the code i used:
Code:
title (tab) Windows Vista
root (tab) (hd0,0)
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader (tab) +1

No i actually had them there lol, although the whole entry i made still showed up (tabs wasnt there in GRUBS)

anyways, i used your code, and i tried hd0,0 hd0,1 hd0,2 and so and and so on and i got it.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate all of your help and quick responses.
