I'm looking to build a computer mostly for interenet and game playing more gaming than anything though and i dont know anything about mother boards i was hoping someone could enlighten me on what to look for whats good average and bad. thanks

i'm looking to spend i guess around 200 or so ofcourse i'd like to always go cheaper but i want something good thats going to run reallly well

You have quite a few choices with this sort of budget. If you're looking for an AMD system (and I assume you are given you've stated gaming as one of your key priorities), the DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR is quite good, as is the Asus A8N-SLI Premium. The Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe is great as well, if slightly overbudget, due to it's full SLI x16 support.

If you don't intend to use SLI, something like the Asus A8N-E or Asus A8R-MVP would be good options.

What sort of system do you intend to build around it (AMD or Intel)? What will be the budget for the entire system?

well i'll probably end up dropping 1 grand into the whole things i want something that will be able to handle some good RPG games. its mostly for gaming and i prefer to run AMD but like i said i dont really know much about all this i have usually just bought the system whole and not really know all thats inside

If your total budget is $1k, I wouldn't spend $200 of it on the mobo. The A8N-E would be more than sufficient.

look for a board offering PCI-E support so you can run a top notch graphics card and also ability to handle plenty of RAM - you will need at least 1Gb to play at high refresh rates

I look for a board that has duel channel memory support and a buss speed of 800mhz using duel channel. With memory so cheap duel channel is the way to go.Asus has given me the best in a mobo. Look for sata support,on board sound, integrated lan and raid support if you want to setup a raid with 2 hard drives. Also usb ports. Hopes this helps a little.

I agree the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe is good, thats what I have and works fine, make sure you get a good power supply though, even though it says 500W min its reallm ore like 550W.
