Need help with my computer

Hi!
I bought a new comp lately (I have another one, older)
Here are the specs:
Amd athlon X2 4400+ socket 939
Azus a8n-e
Geforce 7900 gtx 512 megs
4 gig kingston dual channel ram
450 watts power supply
Sonata 2 case

problem is, I built it successfully, but when I plug in my har drive, it won't boot. The drive doesn't even spin, Zero, nada.
I tried connecting it in my old comp, it owrks, I tried connecting only the power in this one, and it spins. Why would it stop spinning when I add the signal wire to it?
Please I'd really like to have experts advices because It was delivered by mial to me, so I need to act fast if something doesn't work.
Other thing is, I connected an internal speaker to it, because it didn't have one, and theres no error signal, so I don't know what's the problem
Please people! If my comp works one day I'll love everyone of you guys who've helped me out.

If you suspect the drive is bad don't waste time shipping it back. The problem seen with the drive not spinning when the cable(ide? SATA? you left out make, model, and type) is plugged in could be the cable itself. In the new case you may be seeing more then just a bad drive with either supply or board being a factory defect. If you have a spare drive around or one you could borrow briefly you could see if the drive works or doesn't in the new build. The items that would see a drive fail would be the drive itself, cable, board, and power supply. A bad cpu would fail everything or the four wire plug on the newer build not being plugged in would see a failure to boot.

Check the powersupply, that's the only possible thing that could lead to a drive not spinning (seeing you said the drive works on another computer).

well it probly isnt the power suppkly because even if it isnt good enough it would do some sort of boot, and then shutdown, id look and make sure you got it all hooked up completely right, what kind of HD? sata, ide
also i got a question if the HD isnt hooked up to the mobo but is hooked to pwoer will it start or does the mobo act like an off and on switch

well, that's like I said. I have an IDE drive. When I plug only the power, it spins and everything seems okay. If I connect the IDE wire to it and boot, nothing happens. I thought about my cpu being roasted, since my video card doesn't send any signal at all to my monitor. I thought logically that if everything has power, but they don't receive any data, the processor must be down.
PC Eye said that a bad cpu would fail everything, well...in my case there's nothing working except the power. What do you think guys?

Could be your cpu, because everything would have power from the direct power lines from the psu. But unless you have a spare socket 939 lying around, or if a friend does, then you can't check it.

A bad cpu or even a board defect could be cause here. Recently I asked to look over a pair of new builds with a very similar problem where absolutely nothing but a quick flash of the drive lights was seen when going to power it up. The first build saw a second board see the exact same thing when the 1st board was replaced by the vendor. Suspecting a bad batch of boards turned out to be the correct observation there when recommending trying either another model by the same make or swap brands. The 3rd board was a working solution by simply changing the model.

The second one was a start ar first when the breaker switch on the supply saw immediate power light drives up and then go quiet. That was a simple one when rechecking all connections to see the power switch plus was lifted off of the board and the four wire plug wasn't in. The interesting common item was that they were both Asus model boards. bball4life runs the same model replaced in the first build. The A8N SLI Premium. It shows that once in a great while some bad boards get out. A bad cpu is the other most likely while not generally being seen as often. Damage during shipping or handling, a little esd at the wrong time while handling one, a bent or missing pin on the processor itself are things to look at as a possible cause however. With a low cost tester you can easily see if a supply is good. But this points at the board more then anything here. If you had a working case to drop the cpu in you would soon know either way.

finally,

finally I sent a message to the company from who I got the parts and sent it to repair. Apparently, there have been a really bad installation of the motherboard, with bad screws used to fix the <<mobo>> to the tower. That caused a first short circuit. Another was found on a USB plug being upside down, which produced a second shot circuit. My video card and all the rest is okay, miraculously as they say. They sent it back to asus and said it would probably not be repaid since it was badly installed. so I get screwed again :(

Sounds like it's time to start learning how to put your own together or simply dealing with a different place. On the current case here with an 80mm fan mounted in what is called a blow hole on top of the case along with a rear fan of the same size the board temps are higher then the cpu's. When the case was first bought the cheapie supply crapped in under three weeks! I just placed an order for a much better case with a 140mm intake fan in front and 120mm exhaust at the rear. That should get some air moving. If I order a new bios chipset for the old Socket A board I'll drop that back in(maybe).
