Need help with my destkop

I recently put together a desktop computer. A lot of the parts came from a friend of mine who had built a new computer. Everything worked fine when he was using the parts, however after I put the system together it wouldn't connect to the internet. I've tried using an ethernet card and the motherboard itself to connect and neither one works. I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or some other issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the drivers?

try uninstalling the drivers and then reinstalling them, same thing happened to my dads PC and that worked for me.

Thanks for the advice guys, all I had to do was install the drivers.
