i just recently got a toshiba satelite a105-s4384.

when i started to use it, i could scroll up and down within the page, just by sliding my finger on the right side of the touchpad.
plus, when i use the function keys fn+f6 and fn+f7, i could easily adjust the brightness of my screen. now i could do both?

did i accidentally disable these features? how do i activate them again?

please help, been trying to research for the solution, couldn't find any.

thanks in advance....

There is usually software that controlls that, for Dell it's called quickset, check for drivers for basic computer tools.

I think that may be the problem... did you install XP on it... the site suggests that your laptop was built for Vista. That would explain your problems.

oh is that it? actually i didn't install it, XP was bundled with the toshiba even before vista was released this year. i got my toshiba last december

but how come when i used the computer at first, i could use the fn+f6 & fn+f7 feature to adjust my right brightness, and no matter where i look for a solution to activate it again, i couldn't.

Go to start>run.

From there, type in "msconfig" w/o quotes.

Go over to the "startup" tab.

Make sure:

thotkey.exe
padexe.exe

are both checked.

try a system restore to the last point when it worked...

Keep in mind, any programs you installed or updated will be changed back to its previous state, or uninstalled.

if your not sure how to do a system restore... do this...

Start>All Programs>Accesories>System Tools>System Restore

Then go: "Restore my computer to an Earlier time">Next>(Pick the last date you remember it working properly)> then restore...

It restarts and will tell you next time you login if it was successful or not... And don't worry about it being slow, its just because its loading all the old settings back... But It will be fast again after you login and everything is set.

tell us if this works.

COMPUTERHAKK,

i tried msconfig, padexe is checked , but thotkey is not on the list

You should be able to redownload it off toshiba's site.
It's the program controlling the FN keys.

You can try to see if you can find it in C:\Programs\TOSHIBA
or do a search for it.
