Im building a new pc. I want it to match my last or be better im looking to build it for $500 new and used. Im most concerned with the cpu im willing to try amd if it meets or beats this:

Intel i5-760 2.8ghz quad core
Asus p55 mobo
G.skill ripjaw 16gb 1333
Evga gtx460 fermi 1gb superclocked
650watts(would 550 be enough?)
3x hard drives

If you're buying that system second-hand it's pretty good. I had a very similar setup 'back in the day' with an i5 760 and an ASUS P7P55D-E mobo and a GTS 450 (the card below the GTX 460 you're looking at). It was a very nice system.

If you're looking to build it new, it's kind of dated by about 2 or 3 years now. :/

I don't think you need 16GB of RAM either, 8GB is what I had with my 760 and P55. I believe that 16GB was the most RAM that those P55 boards supported.

Read the OP more carefully, that was his old system and he wants a new one for about 500 dollars that is better that that.

Honestly I'm not sure you're going to get much better than that for 500 dollars. If you were able to sell it and get more cash off of it, then you'd be set, but that's probably worth about 500 now.

Opps my bad. For 500 I'd either just upgrade to a 3570K and a Z77 board, but I went from a 760 to a 2500K and didn't see much difference, or just get a nice new GPU.
