Need help with new memory!

Ok ive signed up here to get some help

i got some new memory the other day some ddr 400 1gb stick

I originally had 512mb i think its ok to have both in at the same time right?

So i have 1.5gb memory but heres the problem. Since i put it in every game i play always immediatly crashes to the desktop. 1 game came up with this error message:

out of reserved memory (10136kb)
code change required(current limit 524288kb)
total free 224989kb
free blocks 660, max free size 5724kb

Is there anything i can do? thanks
 
Its a custom here are the specs : 3200+ athlon xp
200 gb hard disk 1x120 1x80
Gigabyte x800 pro
nforce 2
motherboard is asus a7nx delta or something i think
thats about it
 
would be far better off with a matching pair to take advantage of dual channel.

2x512mb sticks in dual channel would be much better than 1x1gb + 1x512mb
 
Well its kind of to late for that since ive bought it and i have no money :P

Is there a specific way to install ram? ive just put it in and the games alays crash. I put on task manager and left it running when i was playing

When it goes above 512mb page file usage it crashes

Whats this mean? do i have to configure it in some way?

Go to system properties, or look in the task manager and see how much (physical memory) ram it says you have.
 
It doesn't really matter, but if it crashes when the usage reaches 512MB, just make it bigger. Mine is 2GB, just cause I don't really need the hard drive space
 
ok ill try it i jus realised i can allocate page file usage to drive e to (my second hard disk) maybe thats why my games arent working? it was on no page file
