Need Help With Options

I need to have access to my work computer from home to be able to access the accounting software to do our payroll, and other aspects that are within my work computer. What is the best options for the software to remotely access from home on my Apple Macbook to my HP Desktop?

You can stand up an OpenVPN server. Depending on what network equipment you have at home it may already be integrated with your router.

If you have an IT team then run that by them.
 
I apologize. Unfortunantly, we are a 4 person business and my computer tech skills are not that vast. I don't know anything about an OpenVPN Server....sorry.
Was told that TeamViewer or software of that kind would work but was looking for more information on other software options.
