I have an abit kv7-v mb with an eide wd 40 gig hard drive, i am trying to add a SATA wd 320 to my pc, according to the mb manual the SATA has to be jumped to 1.5 gigs/sec (which i have done) i have down loaded to latest drivers, and set up the bios to enable "on chip SATA". with the SATA hooked up windows will not load, if i unplug the SATA windows will of course load, with windows up and running if i plug in the SATA everything looks fine, the drive shows up with no problems, i was even able to copy the eide to the SATA. I cant get windows to load if the SATA is hooked up.

thanks in advance for any help

Have you tried formatting the drive?

go to your BIOS, go into settings press f10 or f12 or something(depends of your manufacturer). then move to the boot tab. select your hard disks as the first priority in the boot list(make sure they are). now hit enter on the hdd's and enter the hdd's priority list. now make sure your older 40gig hard disk is the first priority and not the 320gb sata one. you can move around hard disks by the page up and down buttons.

side by side, you can plug in your sata drive, and go to the boot menu in the bios chose to boot from the older hard disk. and you'll be able to run both drives.

oh yeah, and i dont think you need to limit your hard disk bandwidth, try without doing it.
