hey guys im new to this forum and pretty just a basic computer user. I just bought a laptop for college and im wanting to put limewire and itunes on it so i can update my ipod with some new songs. the only problem is with our home computers it seems we are always getting virus's with lime wire and can never keep it clean or for that matter running.

so my questions are
1. what anti virus should i use?(im currently running avast)
2. whats the best antispyware program to use(something fairly easy to use)
3. whats the best malware program to use(again something easy to use)

also can i take music from lime wire and transfer it to a flash drive, then delete them from the computer to keep it kind of free'd up and running smooth, with out having to take a million steps everytime i want to update my ipod(since i bought the dell inspirion cheapo)

thanks for any and all help.

remeber im not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers.

Stop using limewire and you'll dramatically lower your chances of getting infected. Buy your music legally and you'll have no problems.

thanx tremmor...
in fact I have stopped using security softwares two years ago.
After two years of naked journey, my PC is so proud because it has not yet met her maiden virus..

I would recommend Avira for your Anti-virus software and Malwarebytes & SUPERAntispyware for your malware/antispyware software. I would scan your computer for viruses, spyware, & malware at least once a month.

I find that hard to believe.

Instead of avast, you should use AVG Antivirus and SUPERAntispyware for your antispyware/malware software. Both are good security product. :good:

I don't use any scanners (= insufficient protection) during the last 5 years.
I installed Spyware Doctor (SD), update it, ran it and got this green message in Dutch : "Gefeliciteerd, geen infecties aangetroffen!", which means "Congratulations", no infection detected." or something like that.

I knew in advance, SD wouldn't find anything, there is nothing to find in a clean system, but I like to hear I'm clean.
Name any scanner and I run it with the same results. :)
