You will need to make sure you meet the minimum requirements for XP. Also you will need to have a copy of XP.

You need

233MHz Pentium 2 (700MHz Pentium 3 or greater for optimal)
64MB of RAM (256MB or more for optimal)
4GB of HDD (20GB or more for optimal)
a CD ROM drive to install XP on

and most importantly, a valid copy of XP with the COA.
