i have both of my laptops and i thought it would be cool if i'd network them together... so i ran the wireless network setup thingy, and because i've had my wireless router up and running for a long time, i just entered the settings (SSID, network key, etc.) i've been using... i've enabled file/printer sharing and they both respond to PING's from each other, but they won't show up in my workgroup...

any ideas?

yes they are... and i've restarted both computers multiple times... (i've tried to recreate the wireless connection a few times)....

EDIT: question, should i be naming my Workgroup the same as my SSID??? i don't think it matters much...

nah, that doesnt matter.

so if you go into "My Network Places" on one of the laptops you cant see any of the shared folders etc.. on the other one?

correct... all i see is the shared docs on the current laptop i'm on... and i click on "see all workgroup computers" and all i see is the current laptop...

hmm, i dont think its anythign to do with the wireless, so ill rule that out for now.

have you tried running the wizard again and renaming the workgroup on both computers? it may be worth a try.

why not... give me a minute please...

EDIT: didn't work... i'm starting to think it has to do with my router...

a Belkin something or another... but i guess it really can't be that, i mean, i don't think i'd be able to PING or TRACERT either IP addresses if it was a router problem...

hmm i seem to remeber having a problem similar to this before, but i really cannot remeber what i did.
have you tried hooking the laptops up wired to the router?

i really cannot think of anything else that it could be :S

no... i mean i really didn't want to resort to the wired option... but i'll try it to see if they even recognize each other...

sorry i cant help. i ahve gone through all i can think of atm and nothing seems to have worked, ill leave it to someone who might know more and know what the problem is. ill post again if i think of anything.

hmm... well using wires works... but it cuts down my internet access... which makes no sense to me, anybody else got any ideas?
