need help

I try connecting the audio jack from my headset to the back of the motherboard, but they don't work nor do they show up in playback devices.

Yes I should be, I'm using the green one. I haven't connected the front port yet as the cable dosen't fit in the motherboard, so I need to remove some pins
 
Plug it in to the green one in the back, make sure in playback devices you're showing disabled devices, perhaps it got disabled (right click > show disabled devices).
