Need help

I currently have an alienware, and at start screen it says somthing like system32/config is corrupt how do I fix from disk it goes through process and it doesnt fix anything. Also before this I could not connect to the internet from my router, I have a wireless connection, but I also set up a cord to it, and it still would not connect. I need help

IS it possible you have a virus? I dont think you do, but its a possibility. Start another thread in the seccurity section and post a Hijack this log. Run a windows check disk. Start>Run>Chkdsk.

The utility to use for damaged or missing system files is the System File Checker. What this does is repair and/or replace protected system files that may have become crosslinked or have been deleted somehow often with the bad installation of a new program. You will need the recovery or installation disk in hand as the file verification will take place before any repairs.

To start the utility you type in "sfc /scannow" at the Run prompt found on the dropdown list on the Start menu and press the enter key. Chkdsk is mainly for use after a bad shutdown of Windows itself and replaces scandisk ofr the purpose of checking the physical condition of the hard drive while able to correct some errors found in the boot partition.
