Need help

My son thought that he would sneak on my computer and give it a shot. From what I gather he hit F8 when the computer starts its suppose to bypass the password and put the computer in the safe mode screen. I hit enter to start the computer in normal mode and windows wants to start but goes back to the safe mode screen. No matter what mode I go to it still comes back to the same screen. How can I get windows back up? Thanks

No the computer will not go into safe mode. If the timer is counting down and the screen says hit any key for the computer to start in that mode it will get ready to start windows for 3 seconds and than reverts back to where It started from, the black screen with the different modes. This just keeps happening over and over. Thanks

well then, you next step would be to try to do a repair install of windows, just put in your origonal xp cd and when it goes to the setup menu (provided your computer is setup to boot from a cd drive before a hard drive) just follow the instrutions on the screen. I believe the first thing you'll have to do is press R for repair.
