need help

ok so i just built my computer yesterday, everything went fine i installed xp, and well today i was installing programs and everything went fine, then i turned off my computer and i turned it on later and it didnt boot, usally where it goes to the xp screen it just stayed black, i checked in the bios and it shows the hard drive and when i tried to reinstall XP it did the same thing, it said checking hardware and then it just stayed on a black screen, any ideas on what it could be or maybe the hard drive is messed up, i have a 250 gig Western Digital

Are you using onboard video or a video card? If you're using a video card, try switching to onboard, or another video card. I've had similar problems like that before when my video card was failing.
 
im useing an offboard video card. the one i have was working fine for a day, and still works when i go in the bios, ive tried another one and still the same thing, it does it like it cant load XP but it shows the hard drive in the bios
