Need laptop for College

What is a good laptop for just school work, watching movies, and music? I want a battery that will last a long time. It needs to be light and compact.
 
look i hate to say this but apples 12" book is quite good. yes it does run on macs os but u already have a pc. they are light, protable and resonable priced. im not sure about the battery life but from what i can gather they are very good. but i am a pc fan
 
12 inch is really small though especially for movies. school work would be fine, but i think it would be annoying to look at just a 12 inch screen.

of course it would be ultraportable and im sure it weighs next to nothing.
 
Averatec has many good laptop deals for around that price.....and dell always has good deals, like 30% off ect. ect.
 
anything with a 15.4 inch monitor is not considered light and compact. if you are looking to save money look into the compaq 2000z. if you call and order and tell them you are going to college, they will give you another 50$ off. make sure you go with the turion though.
 
I will be attending DeVry for Network Systems Administration starting July 17. Do you guys think I should wait?
