hello i sorta dont no if this is viable or not but ill try. i have an acer 5100 and it has 55 Gb in the C drive and 55 gb in teh d drive. im currently using almost 55 of teh GB in the c drive. but almost next to nothing the d drive which is supposedly the back up drive. which i find a stupid creation. is there a way where i can use the D drive in cooperatione with my c drive?

By using Windows Explorer you can easily browse the second storage partition, create new folders, and copy entire folders as well as files to it. Since both partitions are on the same drive you can also simply move files over from the C primary to the D storage. If you want you can also reassign the D drive letter to another like F or G to see the first optical drive then become the D drive.

really? like i can still access programs from the desktop but there in teh D drive. ie i move most of my files to drive via my computer? is that safe?

You can move all your files such as music, photos, documents, etc to the D: drive and everything will be fine. However if you move program files over there, then they will not work.

The D drive you are seeing for the second partition is a separate logical drive there just as if you added a second hard drive in. Moving files since both are on the same drive is a simple task there. That will free up space on the C primary OS partition while storing them on the second.

Custom installing programs with the program directories on a second partition or drive is ill advised on the other hand. Moving the Program Files, DocumentsandSettings, user in Vista to a second partition is out.

Storing files for safe keeping on a second partition or drive is a common practice in the even the C primary becomes infected with a virus or a simple need to reformat the primary comes up. Your files still remain safely stored elsewhere.
