Want to buy new MB and will use it with the following items I currently have; also I do no gaming...appreciate all input:

Cpu....... amd 2+ 5000 to 6400 no overclocking
Mem....... ddr667 or 800
HD...... ide 200gb, 100gb, and 2 80gb; no sata now but?
DVD/rw....... Samsung 20x ide mdl
video card..... nvidia agp 8x not sure if this works in pci 16x or if I need to buy new card

everything else fits standard pci slots but with a lot of onboard usb2 ports I would not need one slot; maybe just 3 regular slots
normally I use racks for the HDs so would have no more than 2 hds connected at a time.

Thanks

Your going to need a PCIe video card. This is the best two AMD boards for the price and what you get for the money and features depending on what you want to spend. At this point dont get a AM2 board, waste of money. Stick with a AM2+ with a AMD 700/790 series chipset.

The only question I have does anybody make the 780g chip on a atx board and not micro atx; if not what is the next best that is on a full atx board. I know I am asking a lot of info but really want to get a good board for the amd 5000 black cpu, thanks.

Right now other than a few new Nvidia SLI chipsets AMD is the only one making a AM2+ chipset. The 780G was just released a few weeks ago so the boards are pretty limited right now. There should be more soon and I think Nvidia is releasing a AM2+ chip with onboard video pretty soon.

Is the mATX that much smaller than the full atx board, like to have enough space so when and if I decide to get vid card I have plenty of room. Maybe if I just buy a good board w/o the onboard video and get card now it would be better; money is really not the problem, being satisfied is. Thanks

Yea I would much rather have a good non onboard video motherboard with a video card. Motherboards with onboard video tend to be mid to lower end boards and usually have less bios features. If you want to just get a good video card, this is a really good AM2+ board with all the upgradebility you will need all the way up to tri crossfire.

If you want to spend less with out crossfire

Ok, made my purchase with the Gigabyte MA770 DS3 board, 5000 black, and 4gb mem. Also bought a lt weight vid card 8600gt (not a gamer). Now just have 1 major question. I have all ata hds and dvd burners, are there any adapters that can convert them to sata connection for one or the other. Won't run both on same ide port. Thanks for all the big help I been getting.

You could use a PCI to IDE card
