my computers been lagging for the past little while and i've read a bunch of forums from people with similar problems and my graphics card is the issue (along with dust). i have 6gigs of ram, windows 7 64bit, ASUS mother baord(lost the model and info, when i moved) and a GeForce 8800 graphics card, which has done a great job for the past 4 - 5 years or so, but i need a new one and have no idea what is better than this but not the most recent. the most recent cards are just too expensive and i really dont think i'll notice a huge difference between something from last year and this year (i just crank everything up on crisis and if it runs smoothly it'll be good enough). so if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it.

my budget is $100 - $200 and i don't know what my power supply is or how to check. kind of a novice when it comes to computers.

If you open up your case there should be a sticker with the manufacturer and the stats of the psu

It will look something like this:

Here are apps to help you.
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares.html
CPUZ - PC WIZARD - PERFMONITOR - HW MONITOR PRO will show mb info. model/bios...wouldn't hurt to post that info.
If the pc is an oem pre-built, state the model #.
If it's custom look inside and get the power supply model name and model # that's on the power supply. By # I don't mean watts. But you can also post the wattage it says it has.

OH, lol...guess i shudda looked first.

i took a photo of the sticker but it won't let me upload it. aside from the serial number this one is identical to mine, numbers and all.
