need new laptop pls help

hey there i am a student and don't have much money:(

But i need a laptop i have found a compaq armada m700
anyone know if this is a good laptop/brand.

800mhz
20g
windows xp pro
usb
speed step technology
14.1 inch screen
4 hour battery

Is this laptop fine for:
internet
word processing
e-mail
homework
web design
etc....

I actually got my laptop off walmart.com, it really was the cheapest I could find for what I wanted, but if you're not worried about brand all too much, you can find some cheap laptops on newegg too, I just didn't want to trust acer over toshiba but anyways, compaq is a good brand, and that laptop should probably handle all those tasks, but a budget would be nice and we could find something around there
 
Yeah, I would put compaq at the botton of the OK list, Toshiba makes very good laptops, compaq while still good, "meh".

If you are using this at class, I would recomend OneNote2003 from microsoft, very usefull program, goes for $99.99 solo or you can get if with the full 5disk Office set (*wink*), of course there are other forbiden to mention way of obtaining it.
