need new power supply unit

ok my coolmax power supply unit died tuesday night so anybody think i should not get another coolmax and whats the lifespan for these power supplies cuz it lasted lil over year it was a 550 watt with 18 amps on both 12V rails

The lifespan is impossible to predict of most PSU's. Although OCZ and Antec seem to last well.

Coolmax from what I've heard isn't the best PSU brand out there. Here are some really good power supplies; one is a little more expensive, but it's modular for cable management.

Corsair 550watt
Modular Corsair 520watt

It really depends. Nobody can give a specific lifetime, but good brands such as Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, make PSUs that have a smaller chance of failing than no name brand. Name brand PSU's also put out cleaner power, and are generally more efficient.

Go with the quality of components, efficiency, and warranty. That answers your question, however I would suggest Corsair always.

ok just got

new power supply unit today hooked it up system is at intel desktop boards screen but not doing nothing says cpu info but not doing nothing bout reading ram could it be ram isnt fastened down good enough
