need nhelp updating old windows 98se to windows me

do you know how to access the bios?

you need to set the boot priority in the bios to cd/dvd rom-put your disk in then restart it...

to access the bios its usualy "delete" button when the computer first boots up then go to boot, set first boot device as your cd drive save settings and restart

yes i remember my brief incounter with ME-10mins or so....

i ended up getting more ram and putting xp on it-98 second edition was what i was using

Like said above ME is just a bloated 98. I never had any major issues with it. But 98 was more stable with better driver support. At the time 2000 was the better OS by far. Hell I still like 2000 better than XP or Vista. Support for 2000 as for support/programs and drivers are going to the way side though.

If you want to upgrade go with windows 2000. I just got rid of ME on a old compaq of mine and now it works alot better.

Well depending on the specs of your computer, I would keep 98 or install 2000 (if you really have an actual need of upgrading).

"uh, you're a little behind the times dude."

i still run nt4.

"i needed it for pre-xp operating systems. told i could use windows 2000 to run it, but it wont work with xp."

2000 is very similar to xp. XP only came out 18 months later
ME is nothing like 2000. ME is DOS, 2000 is NT
