intel is excellent for gaming, i play all thbe newest games at high settings and runs great. And besides, its the video card that matters most now. A 6800Ultra and an AMD 64 3000+ would outperform a 5500 and an AMD 64 4000+. Either one would be good.

whats multitasking? AMD can multitask vry well but depends on what ur doing

so you dont know what multitasking is but you know AMD can do it really well...

that there leaves you at 2346$ canadian, u have 154$ more to spend on a case, let us know what case u get. 154$ does not include shipping/tax

it is way out of his budget, i got him a 3700 in there tho and that will perform vry good

1. perform very well
2. Venice is more than sufficient and the performance delta isnt balanced by the cost delta

go with Intel it is good for games and multitasking

No doubt ... but its unarguably a K8 system is better still .. and significantly better at that ... whilst you may not be able to notice the difference now ... you may notice it with the next generation of games

Yes but the 6800Ultra+3000 would cost more than the 5500+4000 so you're not making a meaningful comparison. Of course for the price of the 6800U+3000 you can get a 6800GT+3500 and run cirlces around both
