The X850XT gives out the biggest numbers here, but it lacks a few features that the new 7600GT has like Pixel Shader 3.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0 while the X850XT has both of those features at version 2.0. I heard the're overrated features, so the X850XT may be your best option for performance, its kinda of a tough call for me though, but I'm sure someone here will have a better opinion on what you should choose.

Consider the X1800GTO also. Some of the HIS brand cards can be flashed to an X1800XL.

Hmm it looks like the conect3d card already has 16 pipes... lemme look into that.

Looks like the conect3d can also be unlocked to 16 pipes. I'm not sure though... sorry for all the confusion, the X1800GTO is still a nice card.

Both newegg and connect3d claim that this X1800GTO is a 16 pipeline card. Can anyone confirm?

If so, it's a superb deal. If not, it's still extremely competitive. I'd get it, even if it's not 16 pipes, and won't unlock, it's still at least on par with a 7600GT, which would be my next choice.

personally, the 7600gt or the x1800gto seem the way to go. get whatever's cheaper really. the difference is 5 or so fps (depending on the game), so either is a good choice...

Been reading around, turns out the article I was looking at is a fake and the conect3D only has 12 pipes :( So I'm not sure if any of the cards can be unlocked at all. But like ceewi1 said the X1800GTO is still a great card. The 7600GT and X1800GTO are neck and neck, with the X1800GTO doing better with AA and AF due to its 256 bit memory bus.

Ah, you're right too. I really should have looked at an image of the card before posting (you can note the 5-phase power (5 black chips towards the back of the card on this image: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowI...B GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail)). IT WILL NOT UNLOCK. This HIS version can be unlocked to an X1800XL (The 6 black chips on the back of the card indicate it uses 6-phase power, and is based on an X1800XL PCB), but at $218 it loses a lot of it's appeal.
