I got my new cpu in the mail today, i though i did a lot of research before i bought it, and honestly expected it to work perfectly.

Installed the new cpu, and bam...no boot.

So i installed my old cpu and here i am.

The cpu is a am3 socket phenom x4 960t

my motherboard is a am2+ mobo, its a a780gm-a v1.0

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pr...me=Feature&MenuID=20&LanID=0#fragment-Utility

and it says it supports am3 (am3 ready) and it also says up to 95 watt....i fit all these peramiters, why wont my computer boot.

im going to update the bios , but i was hoping to get a quick reply before i try.

thanks guys

Like johnb35 said, you would need the latest bios. CPU support claims it supports it, but the latest bios was in 4/14/2010.

Worked great, thanks guys.

It was a little nervracking knowing that if if the install on the bios flash messed up it could ruin my mobo, but everything went great, love the new cpu
