Need quick response please

I'm looking at buying a Zalman 9700 and it says that it has a three pin power connection and my board has a four pin . My question is will this make a difference orwill I need to buy a adapter. Thanks

No, maybe the RPM controls in BIOS or the Thermostat sensor, I am getting a Thermalright Ultra Extreme and it has you to install a 120mm fan(of your choice) and they have just a 3-pin.
 
I heard there were alot of problems with the bases needing to be lapped on those , that's why I didn't choose it. Congrats on getting the E6850.

Lapped only b/c ppl don't know what Arctic Silver is, lol. If I have to lap it, I have certainly got the tools and ability. Thanks, did you order an E6850 or Q6600?
 
E6850 because I saw a release from ASUS today that says they will issuse new BIOS for certain motherboards to support the new quads comming out . My board was on the list and now I 'm set for the future at least for a while.
If your board has a 4 pin cpu fan plug on it can you put a three pin fan on it ?

Yeah, because the little plastic clip that holds the connector down is centered between the 3-pin part.
