Need severe help or my computer gets it!

I am a bit inept when it comes to problems that I can't see so stick with me here please :o

Problem started when I downloaded something called "uniblue" and it told me that there was a file on my computer named "wininit" that was a trojan virus. I tracked the stupid thing down and tried to remove it and got denied so I tried to stop it through task manager and it shut down my computer immediately with a screen that said something about a "memory dump" and a whole lot of other stuff that I couldn't read in the alloted 2.37 seconds. After I got back up and running everything seemed normal so I figured I wouldn't mess with the wininit thing again so I cam on here to get some advice and protection for my computer. I went into the security section to read the 101 there (which have been SUPREMELY helpful thus far btw) and saw the basic malware link and downloaded the zonealarm firewall to start and when I tried to install it I got that same blue screen as before around the 35% mark and now my computer won't let me onto the internet due to a problem with the "DNS server". I am in safe mode with networking capabilities atm and thats how I am able to post. Basically I have no clue what to do since I have tried a system restore 4 times now to no avail, it just won't let me. Keeps coming back as system restore couldn't restore anything so left everything screwed. Sorry about the lengthy post I just got myself in WAY too deep without een knowing what I did. ANy help would be appreciated!!

do a trojan scan with this
also do a scan with this
(update it first)
a neat little tool that removes spyware etc..
then get yourself a copy of Kaspersky Antivirus and do a full scan.
clear all temp files/cookies and history of IE too

Well, thanks for the helpful advice but I just finished reformatting due to all the trouble it caused. It was just an easier way out and I have a second hard drive that I backed up all my important stuff and didn't lose anything. If anyone can tell me the address of anyone who makes computer viruses I would love to make a few house calls though :D

If you backed up your data onto another drive from your infected drive, you're going to want to scan that data before moving it onto your freshly re-installed drive.. or you'll be asking for trouble :|
