Need some advice for new computer

Hey guys whats up, so the computer I have now is maybe 7 years or more out of date its been through a lot and I am ready for a new one. I don't use my computer for much other than email, browsing shopping. But i do a lot of file converting and downloading mostly from youtube. Im talking like mas downloads all at one time. with my old computer this can take days. also i plan on moving files from my computer to an external hard drive.

So what i would like to ask is what should i look for in a computer to have faster file downloads, faster conversions and speed up the time it takes to transfer files from an internal hard drive to external forms of memory.
 
Do you want to build it yourself? What is your budget? What are you current specs (download PC wizard from my sig, install it and run it, go to file, save as and click ok, copy the text out of this file into this thread).

Generally,

faster downloads = determined by your ethernet/wireless adaptor, router and internet provider.

faster conversion speeds = fast and as many CPU cores as possible

External hard drive transfers = specific bus, e.g. Firewire > eSATA > USB 3.0 > USB2.0
 
do i want to build it my self

This is a possibility I have had some experience with taking apart and putting together computers, gaming systems and ect if i can get more of what i want for cheaper i will gladly build myself im looking to have a budget of no more than 1000 but i really dont want to pay for anything that wont improve the computers ability download convert and transfer files. Im kinda trying to pinch my penny's so if i can get what i want in a computer for around 500-800 i would be happy

ok thats a laptop right? I was trying to see what we can salvage from the build, but unfortunately nothing there is really useful. Im assuming you have a monitor, mouse and keyboard.
