i have a dvd writer in my laptop, i would like to know a good burning software,
im using IBM record now software, and i find it woefully inadequate, cos when i burn cds using it, it plays only on my laptop and not my desktop.
also, what is the moderate speed to burn a cd, for it to work in a normal cd drive, 52x.
also i have a rewriteable cd from sony, but its write speed is 4x..is tht normal for a rewriteable?

you can give nero burning rom a try. for me it didnt matter to me i burn cd and dvd at the faster speed possible just make sure you dont do anything other than burning even if you computer is fast.

rewritable are slow than write once medias though there are faster cdrw like you can burn them at around 24x memerex has them. the write speed of rewritable media is limited by the media and the writer too. just check your writer specs and see so you dont buy higher speed that you can burn at cuz is just a waste of money unless you plan to upgrade your burner.

RW's are more expensive. It's really cheaper to buy CDs when their on sell. 10 cents a disc is not a lot, try the full version of Record Now by Sonic. It's a nice suite. But check the discs when you buy them to see what speed they burn at.

i know rw's r expensive, but i thought it would work out more economical for me
as in burnin and copying the stuff from one comp to another.
i guess im going to stick to normal cds for time to come.

If you're just copying from one computer to the other network them to gether or use a paralell cable and copy the stuff over.

If you're just copying from one computer to the other use a USB jumper drive it's faster than burning and you can get it up to 1GB. For burning I like roxio easy media creator 7.5

nero is the best burning software out there, but like the other ppl said, u can just connst the 2 comps together, u can set up a home network via a router or u can get an ethernet crossover cable and just connect the 2 comps together

Yea, nero isnt that great, last time i used it to encode a dvd to mpeg2 is messed up the audio from the video, the audio was playin to fast for the video, lol , and it doesnt really burn that fast, here lately ive been using roxio and i can achieve a max burn speed of 48x with cds when nero toped out at 30 something with the same media, and i think roxio is alot easyier to use when burn dvds...;)
